Christopher Ashton Kutcher ( born
February 7, 1978), best known as Ashton Kutcher,
"I'm a guy's guy. I don't
comb my hair unless I have to and I don't use lotions or fancy shampoos."
Ashton Kutcher
One of People's 50 Most
Beautiful People (2000) and Teen People's 25 Hottest Stars Under 25 (2002 &
2000) model turned actor Ashton Kutcher caught the public eye while playing
Kelso on Fox's comedy series That '70s Show.
He was the creator, executive
producer, and host of the MTV celebrity prank show Punk'd.
He is known for his roles in
films such as Dude, Where's My Car?, Just Married, The Butterfly Effect, The
Guardian and What Happens in Vegas. He is also the producer and co-creator of
the supernatural TV show Room 401 and the reality TV show Beauty and the Geek.
He is married to actress Demi Moore.
Kutcher was born in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, the son of Diane Kutcher, an employee of Procter & Gamble, and Larry
Kutcher, who worked at a General Mills factory. He is of part Irish ancestry on
his mother's side. Kutcher has an older sister, Tausha, and a fraternal twin,
Michael, who had a heart transplant when the brothers were young. Kutcher's
childhood was that of a rugged, outdoorsy Midwesterner, and he had various odd
jobs, including carpentry, and other jobs relating to farm life.
Kutcher attended Washington High
School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for about a year when his family moved to Tiffin,
Iowa, where he attended the Clear Creek-Amana High School.
In addition to being a student,
he played on the football team as a wide receiver and appeared in school plays.
Meanwhile, his home life was stressful. He has stated that "I didn't want
to come home and find more bad news about my brother" and "kept myself
so busy that I didn't allow myself to feel." Kutcher admitted that as a
teen, he contemplated committing suicide. At thirteen, he attempted to jump from
a hospital balcony, but his father intervened at the last minute. At around this
time, his parents divorced. During his senior year, he broke into the high
school at night with his cousin in an attempt to steal money; he was caught
leaving the scene. Kutcher was convicted of third-degree burglary and sentenced
to three years' probation and 180 hours of community service. Kutcher stated
that though the experience "straightened him out", he lost his
girlfriend and anticipated college scholarships, and he was ostracized at school
and in his community.
Kutcher attended the University
of Iowa, where he majored in biochemical engineering (but did not receive a
degree), motivated by the desire to find a cure for his brother's heart ailment.
At the University of Iowa, Kutcher was kicked out of his apartment for being too
"noisy" and "wild". Kutcher stated, "I thought I knew
everything but I didn't have a clue. I was partying, and I woke up many mornings
not knowing what I had done the night before. I played way too hard. I am amazed
I am not dead." He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. To make ends
meet, Kutcher worked as a college summer hire in the cereal department for the
General Mills plant in Cedar Rapids, and sometimes donated blood for money.
During his time at the University he was approached by a scout at a bar called
The Airliner in Iowa City, Iowa, and was recruited to enter the "Fresh
Faces of Iowa" modeling competition. After placing first, he won a trip to
New York City to the International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA)
Convention. Following his stay in New York City Ashton returned home to Cedar
Rapids, Iowa before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
Kutcher has invested in an
Italian restaurant named Dolce (other owners include Masterson and Valderrama)
and a Japanese-themed restaurant named Geisha House located in Atlanta and Los
Angeles.
Katalyst Media was started by
Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg. The company has been responsible for TV shows
such as Beauty and the Geek and Punk'd, and movies including Guess Who and The
Butterfly Effect.

Ashton Kutcher
announced Friday May 29, 2009 that a major corporation is going to donate 10
million dollars of food to help the people in the United States.
He is calling people
to action by filming videos to raise awareness about hunger in America.
The videos are to be
recorded of people looking into the camera and saying "Are you
hungry?", then saying "Eat Something!" and then finally a person
or people eating something. The films will be pulled together and used for a
hunger campaign this summer for Action for Hunger Awareness.
June 21, 2009 -Kellogg Company
today announced a transformational partnership with Katalyst, a studio for
social media co-founded by Ashton Kutcher (www.twitter.com/aplusk) and Jason
Goldberg. The partnership will raise awareness of the growing hunger epidemic in
the United States and encourage consumers to donate to Feeding America, the
nations leading hunger relief organization, at the KelloggCares Facebook(r) Page
at www.facebook.com/kelloggcares. Recent reports show that one in eight
Americans is struggling with hunger, and food banks across the country are
challenged to keep up with rising demand.
As part of its ongoing commitment
to fight hunger, Kellogg teamed up with Katalyst to spotlight the issue through
a new online video, directed by Demi Moore (www.twitter.com/mrskutcher). The
video can be found on the KelloggCares Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/kelloggcares.
It features user-generated content submitted by consumers moved to end hunger
following requests that @aplusk (Ashton Kutcher) and @mrskutcher (Demi Moore)
posted on their respective Twitter feeds and Facebook Pages.
"ding-dong-ditch"
On April 16th, 2009, Kutcher
became the first user of social networking site Twitter to have more than
1,000,000 followers, beating out CNN in the "Million followers
contest".
He previously announced
that he would be donating $100,000 to a charity to fight malaria, and displayed
the check on Ustream.tv. Ashton Kutcher is
now in a position to do great good and influence the masses like no other
celebrity ever could through the use of the internet and social networking.
A Ding Dong Ditch, as defined by
Wikipedia, involves knocking on the front door (or ringing the doorbell of) a
victim, then running away before the door can be answered. The game goes by many
different names in various other countries and has been played since the 19th
century.
Hostess (r) Ding Dongs (r)
Ding Dongs - enrobed with
chocolate coating, with rich and majestic creme filling, you can't help but
feel like royalty when you bite into one. In fact, when they were first
introduced, they were actually called King Dons in some parts of the country
(and Big Wheels in some regions),
The name Ding Dong came from the
chiming bells used in Hostess' first television commercials and you'll be
singing a happy tune every time you polish off a package. Nibble them slowly,
like a king or queen, and savor the creamy goodness of every morsel, or bite
right into that creamy center and get a mouthful of chocolate goodness.
May 13,2009 ATLANTA,
Georgia (CNN) -- The scene was more reminiscent of a Hollywood production than
an elaborate prank by the Punk'd-master himself.
Ashton Kutcher, along with his
wife, Demi Moore, dropped by Atlanta, Georgia's CNN Center on Wednesday to
fulfill his promise to "ding-dong-ditch" CNN founder Ted Turner's
house after winning last April's race to attract 1 million followers on the
micro-blogging site Twitter.
With the precision of a Hollywood
director, Kutcher barked into his two-way radio as his light and sound crews
followed with the Twitter entourage hot on their heels and an Internet audience
watching on Ustream.
Moments after Kutcher yelled
"lights" into his two-way, his crew unfurled a banner with his Twitter
name, aplusk, over the CNN's neon logo on the building.
"You know, CNN lost. That's
what happened," Kutcher told a tag-along crowd of more than 100 fans whom
he calls "tweeps." "I'm just fulfilling a promise I made ... that
I'd do this thing and I'm doing it."
Kutcher had challenged CNN to the
Twitter race, saying he would donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for
World Malaria Day if he beat CNN, and 1,000 if he lost. CNN agreed to do the
same. Follow CNN Breaking News on Twitter
Kutcher reached the goal about 30
minutes before CNN passed the mark.
Kutcher acknowledged Wednesday
that he would have to improvise to prank Turner.
"Ted doesn't really have an
accessible home, and Ted doesn't really have an accessible doorbell," he
said.
In an earlier prank Wednesday,
Kutcher and his crew arrived at a Ted's Montana Grill restaurant, which is named
after the media mogul.
The group neatly stacked hundreds
of boxes of Ding Dongs in front of the restaurant, then each person banged a
bronze bell out front.
"Don't be shy; get
involved," Kutcher crowed from the top of a U-Haul van filled with Hostess
Ding Dongs.
"There are 800 boxes of Ding
Dongs. There are approximately 9,600 Ding Dongs here," said the former star
of MTV's "Punk'd" show. "We have to deliver these to Ted."
Turner originally founded CNN in
1980, but he is no longer affiliated with the company.
